How Can severe Pain Below The Rib Cage Be Treated?
Hi. I am having alot of charlie horse type symptoms. The "catches" vary. sometimes I have one the is on my right side up under my ribs. It almost feels like skin getting caught under my rig cage and is very painful. I have also, for the last day and a half, been getting a catch in my shoulder that then radiates to my head causing an excrutiating headache.
Hello, Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic! I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
All the symptoms you have mentioned suggest the possibility of a clinical condition called "costochondritis". It is nothing but inflammation of your rib cartilage. You don't need to worry regarding this as it can be well managed by various treatment options available. I suggest you to consult a general physician and get the following things done:- 1. A chest X-ray PA view to rule out any fracture or contusion. 2. You can try simple analgesics like ibuprofen or diclofenac for controlling the pain. 3.Apply alternate warm and cold compresses for symptomatic relief. 4.If conservative management fails, you might require intercostal(between your ribs) injection of steroid drugs for symptomatic relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Regards. Dr.Shinas Hussain
